Tea has always been part of my cultural background, even if I didn't appreciate it as much when I was younger. I was much more interested in matcha sweets — matcha ice cream, cakes, pretty much anything matcha-flavored. As I got older, I started appreciating matcha as a tea too, and got curious about trying different matcha powders and figuring out how I liked to prepare them. Hojicha was another favorite, and I naturally started experimenting with that too.
I started posting the drinks I was making on Instagram, which is where @matchabzzz began. The name is a nod to bees and, fittingly, the buzz that comes with caffeine.
What started as a creative way to share drinks turned into a much bigger rabbit hole. Along the way, I've learned a lot about filming, lighting, flavor combinations, recipe development, and all of the details that make a drink work. And once I started diving into all of that, there was always another drink to try — which eventually led me to coffee.
I usually prefer pretty simple drinks, but I love figuring out why something tastes the way it does and changing it until I'm happy with it. This site is a place to collect the recipes that come out of that process and share them with you.
Thanks for following along with the journey!

Frequently Asked Questions
Requests
Can I request a recipe?
Absolutely! Try searching for it first — if it's not already on the site, you'll get the option to request it, and I'll do my best to create it. Feel free to request simple ideas, even if you don't have it completely figured out.
Recipes
Why doesn't my drink taste exactly like the name?
The name is where the idea comes from — it's not trying to taste exactly like the real thing. A Blueberry Pancake Latte started from blueberry pancakes, but it's my own take on that flavor. A lot of my recipes start the same way, from a dessert I like.
What if I don't like how you made a recipe?
These are all made to my own taste, so if something's too sweet, too strong, or just not your thing, adjust it. The measurements are just where I'd start, not something you have to follow exactly.
Do your Instagram posts always match the recipe on the site?
Not necessarily. Photos and videos are mostly there to show what the drink looks like — I'll sometimes reuse an older post for a drink even after tweaking the recipe since then, and the name usually stays the same across those versions. The written recipe on this site is always the current one; an Instagram post might show an earlier or slightly different version of it.
Me
Why did you make a recipe website?
It all started from my Instagram, @matchabzzz, where I still post my drinks. Posts get lost in the feed pretty easily, so I wanted a place where people could actually filter through recipes instead of scrolling forever.
I'm not sure where to start
No worries, it can be overwhelming. If you're new to making drinks at home, I recommend starting with a basic matcha latte or hojicha latte — those two are the base for most of my other recipes.
Do you really drink all of these?
Yes! Being on social media definitely shaped how much I experiment — I just got curious about different flavor pairings and syrups along the way. You don't have to make anything complicated if you don't want to. I enjoy a plain drink too :)
What matcha/hojicha/coffee do you use?
You can find what matcha, hojicha, and coffee I'm currently using through my Instagram posts @matchabzzz, along with discount codes for some of my favorite products at beacons.ai/matchabzz.
